Vientiane (E)

Just a quick update from Vieniane:

After seeing the plain of jars I continued south and spent a few days in Vang Vieng, a heavily touristic town amid a beautiful landscape of limestone mountains, caves and caverns. I rented bicycles to explore the area together with two Austrians I met in Phonsavan – sadly I didn’t take many pictures during that time except from the view from my hostel room.

After Vang Vieng I took a bus to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Life here is very slow-paced and it doesn’t feel like a big capital city. Unfortunately it started raining the day after my arrival and didn’t stop for almost three days. Despite this I enjoyed the good food and properly tested my rain gear ;-)

This evening I will board a sleeper bus to Pakse in the very south of Laos. The plan is to spend a few days on the Bolaven plateau on a scooter and then to head down to Si Phan Don aka “4000 islands” region before entering Cambodia. There won’t be many possibilities to be online in the coming days and weeks so you might have to wait a bit for the next entry.
